Defense
Terms of filing
First, the candidate should contact the secretariat of the Directorate of Doctoral Studies of their registration instituion (Lyon 1, ENS Lyon or INSA Lyon) to remove a folder of defense.
Before filing its application with the establishment, it must obtain the defense authorization from the Graduate School, which is given by the Director of the Graduate School in view of a file containing:

Selection of referees
The referees will be chosen outside the «PRES Université de Lyon». The Graduate School also also request at least one member in the examination board to be is a professor affiliated with the institution's doctoral student and a member habilitated to watch PhD’s fellow to the Graduate School of Chemistry.
